Now I don't really like to go to the Canyons because of how crowded the mountain is. The snow isn't the same either. However, the Canyons have renovated a lot over the years and they have some of the nicest facilities. Two winters ago, I went to Sapporo, Japan to go snowboarding. It was amazing to see and experience how the snowboarding culture is a worldwide phenomenon. The way people dress on the slopes in Japan are more playful, bright and young compared to the dress I've seen on the slopes in Utah. There is a lot more snow in Sapporo than I've ever seen in Utah and overall, I just loved the boarding experience I was able to have abroad.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10765261781113271620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8451672107862534337.post-72411461080515670952011-03-17T15:17:08.256-07:002011-03-17T15:17:08.256-07:00I love this post! I love the language of snowboarders.
I've attempted to even get on a skateboard and that never worked for me. I've always wanted to longboard as well, but I haven't because I've always heard of the dangers of longboading. I know boarding in general is a risky sport, but landing on snow makes me feel a lot better and safer than on concrete. Still hurts, but I'd rather land in snow.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10765261781113271620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8451672107862534337.post-57073996634543150132011-03-05T11:07:46.723-08:002011-03-05T11:07:46.723-08:00I have been boarding a lot this year and I don'...I have been boarding a lot this year and I don't remember the snow being so rough all the time. Some Blackalicious or Atmosphere on the iPod makes me flow and mellow out. Then Slayer, and all my metal makes me charge the mountain and often try new, high risk tricks or take a hairy line that I wouldn't do without the tunes to pump me up.

This is even evident in a lot of pro rider styles. Just look at the difference in Arron Bitner (hip hop) and Pat Moore (Metal)dpizzahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12867783085777552824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8451672107862534337.post-44504021313655790702011-02-27T03:37:02.450-08:002011-02-27T03:37:02.450-08:00When I watched the Vancouver Olympics, I noticed a...When I watched the Vancouver Olympics, I noticed almost all the boarders had music and earbuds in before they jumped into half pipe. I always bring my iPod on the slopes just in case I really want them, but I like being unplugged in the mountains. I like hearing how the board sounds in the snow. I like the silence and the sound of the mountains when I'm up there. However, I do like music that the resorts play as you're around the lodge. My ideal playlist to board to if I was pro and all is all electronica. Especially songs by Justice.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10765261781113271620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8451672107862534337.post-78002409183545478272011-02-21T18:35:37.645-08:002011-02-21T18:35:37.645-08:00I havent been snowboard in a couple years but I ha...I havent been snowboard in a couple years but I have always enjoyed both the parks and riding the mountains. I have never been exceptional in snowboarding but it is always fun to hit big jumps or to ride through some deep powder searching for natural jumps or drop offs. I dont own any Tech nine gear myself. I wish I could update my gear, but boards and a day for a ride is pricy. I went last year with my brother to get his gear. I checked out all the snowboards. It's difficult finding a board that appeals to you and feels that it represents you. I would say the difference between the Technine boards and Burton boards is street art v. clean look. I went to both Technine and Burton websites. Technine seems to have more of a local artist, street art, community feel, whereas Burton has the clean look design. I want to try riding with these type of boards. Mine are old school and step-in bindings from way back in the day.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10765261781113271620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8451672107862534337.post-21864393648841360522011-02-15T19:16:16.777-08:002011-02-15T19:16:16.777-08:00I know I'm a little late on this too but I wat...I know I'm a little late on this too but I watched the Mens Street Snowboard Finals and Nic Sauve tore it up. I haven't watched the X games in years and grew up traveling and competing in snowboarding I lost an interest and stopped riding when it became a team sport. I still rep Bozung and Magoon but T-Kids part in THAT was game over. The snowboarding world is a lot different once you join the business side of things. Stay with the real riders MFM and those dude will be riding still once the sport dies and sadly it will just like snowboarding in the 70's and skateboarding in the 80's.JemCASHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03702532180915052457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8451672107862534337.post-40098723337657089322011-02-07T21:50:43.182-08:002011-02-07T21:50:43.182-08:00I haven't noticed Technine. Just some ideas, maybe you could post about your favourite resorts, runs, more in depth about your favourite boarders, snowboarding tips, any snowboarding magazines you read, your personal experience with snowboarding and snowboarding videos. I have a few blogs that I write on and on my music blog, I compared snowboarding to playing guitar. Two unrelated things, but I feel like both are free form expressions. I like how there are no rules and there's freedom in style.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10765261781113271620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8451672107862534337.post-37937848987255680812011-02-07T21:42:43.894-08:002011-02-07T21:42:43.894-08:00Thanks for the comment! Last year during the Vancouver Olympics, I spent my days living on the boardercross and halfpipe events. I actually got to meet gold medalist in boardercross, Seth Wescott which was pretty cool. Shawn White is awesome. I'm sad I missed the X Games. I don't watch TV unless it's a big event like the Olympics and usually hear about events after they happen. I'll be sure to stay in tune more often. I haven't heard of those snowboarders, but I need to check them out. Besides Shawn White, I am a fan of Louie Vito and Torah Bright. It's pretty cool that there are a lot of pro snowboarders who train in Utah.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10765261781113271620noreply@blogger.com
